I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Grand Valley State University in 2016. I began my career as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the University of Michigan. It was there that I discovered my passion for caring for mothers and their babies. I went on to earn my certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), the gold standard in lactation care.

I was fortunate to work as an IBCLC at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO, where I gained valuable experience helping mothers reach their lactation goals in a variety of settings:

  • I worked with medically complex infants in their level IV NICU

  • Facilitated prenatal visits with high risk delivery patients

  • Attended ENT consults to evaluate and assist with tongue ties/revisions

  • Attended cleft lip/cleft palate clinics

  • Met with families in our outpatient clinics to assist them with the breastfeeding struggles that come after being sent home from the hospital.

I am also a mom of two beautiful boys! I’ve had wonderful breastfeeding experiences with both of my boys, but it didn’t come without its own unique set of challenges. Breastfeeding is natural, but it doesn’t always come naturally.

Sarah Kelsey

Hi, I’m Sarah!

I credit my success to the incredible lactation support I received and my determination to meet my goals. It brings me so much joy to help others do the same!

Throughout my years working with postpartum patients, I have seen a significant need for lactation support in our communities. Becoming a mother myself only solidified my commitment to providing evidence-based lactation support, as I believe quality care should be accessible to everyone. I absolutely love what I do because there is something magical about women helping women. Cuddle & Care Lactation is a safe space where all individuals can feel comfortable asking for the help they need to THRIVE and meet their breast/chestfeeding goals!
